Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina debuted with sly hip-hop tracks that addressed sexual identity and race with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before increasing her presence in Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Korean immigrants living in Forest Hills Queens. Her first experience with music came via the trumpet. She also received the classical and jazz education later becoming a hip-hop teenager. In her studies, she majored in journalism and women's studies, and was taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing for a time. She turned her attention towards music after she finished her studies. Her song My Vag which was her response to Mickey Avalons My Dick, became a viral hit on the Internet and was later featured on her first LP Yellow Ranger. Other viral hits included the queef, a body positive track, and the witty NYC Bitche$ hometown tour. The latter track was connected to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide for 2015, which was a travel guide. After having a great career as a musician She decided to take on the role of actor. In addition to early television shows such as Girl Code and Tawk, she has also been featured in movies like Neighbors2Storks, and Bad Rap. Her breakthrough came in 2018 with a few movies that were highly regarded, such as Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
